Like, there’s just this thing about Chinese people…they just…I mean, I guess it feels like everything’s a competition or a deal. You’re always just like…I mean, everything means something. Like, every act—going over for tea, or having breakfast with someone, or anything—everything means something. [...] I mean, it could be just showing off or bragging about their success. More often it’s like they need something from you. Favors, or…something. I mean, it’s kinda the same in American culture, but at least Americans are at least very business-like. But in Chinese culture, they may say yes but not do it. They can’t say no to people in the Asian circle…it just gets very confusing.
